Many highly hazardous pesticides, substances that are acutely toxic or that cause serious chronic health effects, are used around the world, resulting in serious health problems, significant environmental damage, and unsustainable farming. A few pesticides have been banned globally, but implementation of the bans is inconsistent, and illegal use occurs.
