Regional Hubs:
IPEN Regional Hubs act as Regional Focal Points in Africa, Latin America, Asia-Pacific, South Asia, Eastern Europe, Caucasus & Central Asia, and the Middle East. Regional Hubs coordinate and communicate with IPEN Participating Organisations in their geographic regions, and report to the Network on the regions' needs, activities, and perspectives.
It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Mohamed Aly Abdelsalam Aly Elbanna on Monday evening, 28 February, 2011.
Dr. El Banna was the Chairman of the Day Hospital Institute for Development and Rehabilitation in Cairo, Egypt, an organization that works for sustainable development in the field of health and the environment, particularly with people with disabilities and the aged.
Since 2004 Dr. El Banna has led the Day Hospital as the IPEN Regional Hub for the Middle East, working to assist and engage NGOs across the Arab world. He has also been a supportive, contributive member of IPEN's Steering Committee for numerous years, and an important part of the IPEN family.
Dr. El Banna will be greatly missed.

Regional Action Plans:
In 2008 IPEN's 8 Regional Hubs surveyed NGOs in their regions in order to learn more about what groups around the world feel are the chemical safety issues of the highest priority, and where there any gaps in knowledge, capacity, and resources.
In total, 208 NGOs were surveyed for their input, in 82 countries around the world.
