THE STOCKHOLM CONVENTION IS SET TO BECOME LEGALLY BINDING!:

France | Feb 18, 2004

On February 17, 2004, France became the 50th Country to ratify the Stockholm Convention, and sets May 17, 2004 as the date to for the Convention to enter into force.

IPEN congratulates everyone who supported the ratification of the Stockholm Convention in their country.

In the countries that have not yet ratified the convention, IPEN Participation Organizations are utilizing this international momentum for their national ratification efforts.

As more countries ratify the convention, the challenge of implementing the Stockholm Convention from the local to the global level becomes more evident.

IPEN will continue our mission to eliminate POPs via the engagement of Participating Organization in Stockholm Convention procedures; raising POPs awareness; information and experience exchanges; and organizational capacity building work in developing countries and countries in economic transition.
