Czech Republic | Prague | Sep 3, 2002

Czech Ministry of Environment published report about special monitoring of water quality. Experts found in the river Elbe in Decin (near to Czech-German boarder) 100 time higher level HCH and p,p-DDT in sediments in comparison to previous situation!

Report expected, that contamination is causes by old environmental pollution from Spolchemie company (factory of chlorine chemical industry in Usti nad Labem). Greenpeace CZ found in waste water from Spolchemie in august 1999 DDT (0,77 microgram/l), lindam, HCB, heptachlor etc. But Spolana Neratovice produced DDT too.
