As a result of the Project, national NGOs in many countries have prepared POPs-related, country-relevant information and make it available to governments and others. This will contribute to preparation of National Implementation Plans, country ratification efforts, and effective implementation of the Stockholm Convention. The exercise of gathering and preparing these documents will also help to enhance the POPs-related capacity of national NGOs.
The Project will create, in many countries, increased awareness, understanding, and knowledge about POPs within the national NGO community and society as a whole. This will include knowledge about the harms POPs cause to human health and the environment and measures required to reduce and eliminate POPs. It will also increase NGO and public understanding about the Stockholm Convention and other programs and efforts aimed at the reduction and elimination of POPs and other persistent toxic substances.
The Project will create enhanced facilitation and support mechanisms at the global, regional, and national levels for NGO efforts relating to POPs and other PTS. These mechanisms will outlive the two-year Project and will help expand POPs-related capacity and competence of NGOs and civil society in many countries.
The project will be implemented across the globe in eight regions of the world - Anglophone Africa, Central Europe, Francophone Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean, The Middle East, Russia, South East Asia and South Asia.

Some of the activities defined in the project are:
To prepare country situation reports
Identify POPs Hot spots and prepare reports
POPs policy Briefs
Regional reports
Conduct Information and Training Workshops.
The regional hubs are expected to implement this program in countries of their region by identifying national NGOs who have the necessary skills to implement such a program. The details of the project activities and definite timelines and deliverables will be communicated separately.
Note: NGOs interested in participating in IPEP can affiliate themselves with any particular Hub depending on their geographical location and preferred language.
