Report developed in collaboration with multiple UN convention groups, technical experts, and organizations working to address toxic pollution, discusses the key challenges society faces to eliminate toxic components in the plastics life-cycle, identifies chemicals and sectors of greatest concern, and outlines key approaches for tackling the issues.
In Ethiopia, there are a number of tested means that support the process of phasing out the use of highly hazardous pesticides by replacing them with ecology-based crop production systems. With the involvement of different civil society organizations and support from the government extension systems, the ecological farming initiative is building momentum. There are a number of best practices and success stories in reducing and avoiding the use of toxic chemicals by replacing them with alternatives.
